PIQUA — Upper Valley Career Center in Piqua has announced that it will offer a Blended Bridge program designed to prepare students for the next step in a career pathway.

The six-week Blended Bridge program will be at the Adult Technology Center, 8901 Looney Road, Piqua on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. starting Monday, Oct. 5. Students must register in advance. The course is free.

The bridge course will provide a basic understanding of what it takes to advance into health care, industrial or business office occupations. All students will take core courses including math, study skills and online learning management and then branch off into specialty areas. Health care students will receive an introduction to medical terminology and an introduction to nursing. Industrial students will receive an introduction to blueprint reading, general industrial safety, and precision measurement comprehension. Office professional students will receive an introduction to Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Publisher.

Dr. Peg Morelli, ABLE director, said the bridge program is designed to provide a no-cost opportunity that allows individuals to learn more about career pathways and the skills it will take to be successful in those fields.

“Upon completion of the course, students should gain confidence and be prepared to continue their education,” said Morelli.
