SIDNEY — A new scholarship bearing the name of a longtime teacher is available to Sidney High School seniors.

The Stephen W. Weadock Scholarship Fund will make its first $1,000 award this spring.

Weadock taught at Sidney High School for 30 years, retiring in 2001. He passed away in 2011 and the remainder of his trust was recently given to the Community Foundation of Shelby County.

Students interested in applying for the scholarship must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. The Community Foundation’s online application form, at www.commfoun.com, is the gateway to the Stephen W. Weadock Scholarship and many others. The deadline to apply is Feb. 15.

Anyone wanting to provide a memorial gift to the fund can go to the foundation’s website to find an option for online credit card gifts. Friends may also send checks payable to the Community Foundation of Shelby County with “Weadock” noted in the memo line.

The Community Foundation of Shelby County administers 156 charitable funds, including 57 scholarship funds.
