SIDNEY — The Shelby County Retired Teachers Association recently chose two recipients for its annual scholarships of $500 each.

Peyton Esser, a 2016 graduate of Jackson Center High and attends the Ohio State University in Columbus. She is an early childhood education major and the daughter of Candee and Brad Esser.

Taylor Young is a 2013 graduate of Sidney high School and attends Bowling Green State University. She is studying inclusive early childhood education and human development and family studies. She is the daughter of Karen and Richard Young.

The students will receive their awards during a the August luncheon meeting of the Shelby County Retired Teachers Association in August.

The scholarship program of the group, which comprises teachers who have retired from Shelby County, Sidney, Lehman and Christian Academy schools, is funded by donations, sales and memorials.
