PIQUA — Edison State Community College’s Peace Officer Academy honored 12 students, June 12, following their successful completion of the 21-week program.

Students of the program met for six days each week since January, totaling more than 680 hours of training. The curriculum of the program is certified by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission and covers all aspects of law enforcement training including administration, firearms, subject control and investigation.

“This group of cadets gelled very quickly, supporting and encouraging each other along the way,” said Joseph Mahan, Basic Peace Officer Academy commander. “I wish them the best in seeking their dream of becoming a law enforcement officer and their willingness to serve and protect.”

Spring 2017 Police Officer Academy graduates from this area included Troy Hurst, of Sidney.
