Board accepts resignations

SIDNEY — The resignations of two staff members were accepted Wednesday morning during a special meeting of the Sidney City Schools Board of Education.

Megan Mummey, Sidney High School math teacher, submitted her resignation effective July 31. According to Superintendent John Scheu, Mummey has accepted an assistant coaching position with the Wittenburg University women’s basketball team. She will be starting Aug. 1 with the college.

Tracy Watkins, Longfellow aide, submitted her resignation effective July 18. She is moving out of state.

The board hired three aides for the 2017-18 school year at the meeting. Sara Cowan will be an aide at Longfellow. She will be paid $13.50 per hour.

Abigail Morris and Megan Gray were also hired as aides at $12.59 per hour plus a $2 an hour low incident pay. Both will be working with special needs students. Morris will be an aide at Longfellow, while Gray will be an aide at Sidney High School.

The board also awarded a supplemental contract to Devon Langhorst. He will be an assistant football coach and will be paid $1,691.

The board went into executive session to discuss employment of personnel. No action was taken.

Board members Chip Hix and Bob Smith weren’t present for the meeting as they are on vacation.

The board’s next meeting will be Monday, Aug. 21, at 5:30 p.m. at the board of education office.
