MINSTER — Two Minster students have been recognized in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Dr. Jason Spencer, principal of Minster Junior/Senior High School, announced that Erin Keller has been named a semifinalist in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Competition.

Keller, daughter of Ron and Leanne Keller, is one of 16,000 semifinalists in the 63rd year of the program. Keller has an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring.

Carter Pohl has been named a commended student in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program. Pohl is the son of Keith and Tricia Pohl. About 34,000 commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2018 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, commended students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition.
