SIDNEY — The deadline is approaching for high school seniors applying for Community Foundation of Shelby County 2018 scholarships. The online application connects both high school and college students to 175 scholarships with awards totaling more than $224,000. The application is found at www.commfoun.com.

Some scholarships are for students graduating from a defined high school and others are county wide. Certain scholarships are for students with a specific major or who meet other qualifying factors. The deadline for most high school senior scholarships is Feb. 15. Scholarships for some high school seniors and current college students is May 21.

As students complete application sections on their high school, residency, activities and intended major, the online form presents to them scholarships for which they are eligible. Students will attach their transcript, activities list, letters of recommendation and possibly their Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number from the FAFSA form. They will also need to write a short personal statement about their education, future career and reason for seeking a scholarship.

The Community Foundation of Shelby County has been administering charitable funds for more than 65 years. For information, contact the office at 937-497-7800 or [email protected].
