SIDNEY — As the bells rang welcoming the year 2017, the Shelby County United Way was also celebrating.

“We are pleased to report that pledges have topped $1,349,500 as companies have finalized and submitted their campaign totals. Totals place the campaign at 101.8 percent of the $1,325,000 goal,” said Scott Barr, executive director of the Shelby County United Way. “We were aware of challenges and company changes as we planned for the campaign and announced the goal. Some new challenges took place during the campaign that were unforeseen.

“It truly is a testament of the generosity of our community and company leaders that we continue to reach goal each year. We would like to once again thank all individual, family and corporate donors which support the campaign,” said Barr.
