Holiday closings announced

SIDNEY — End-of-year holidays will change operating schedules for area businesses and organizations.

The Sidney Daily News will not publish on Christmas. The newspaper offices will close to the public at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve day. The deadline for obituary submissions for the Dec. 24 issue will be noon on Dec. 23. Those obituaries received after deadline will appear online on Dec. 24, but will not appear in print until Dec. 26. The deadline for obituary submissions for the Dec. 26 issue will be noon on Dec. 25. Deadline will be 3 p.m. on Dec. 27 for the Dec. 28 issue, on Dec. 29 for the Dec. 30 issue and on Dec. 30 for the Dec. 31 issue.

The Daily News office will be open until 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and closed on New Year’s Day. The paper will publish on Jan. 1. The obituary deadline for the Jan. 1 issue will be noon on Dec. 31. A noon obituary deadline will apply on Jan. 1 for the Jan. 2 issue. Regular deadlines for obituaries will start on Sunday, Jan. 3, for the Monday, Jan. 4, newspaper.

The end-of-the-week holidays of Christmas and New Year’s Day will see all local agencies, government offices and banks closed on both days.

No trash or recycling collections will be made on either day and service will be delayed by one day; so the usual Friday collections will be made on Saturdays.

The U.S. post office will be open regular hours and make regular deliveries on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. There will be no deliveries and window sales will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Closed on Christmas Eve day as well as on Christmas and New Year’s Day will be Sidney city offices, all Shelby County Public libraries, the Senior Center, which will also be closed Dec. 26, Gateway Arts Council gallery, the Alpha Center, which will remain closed until Jan. 4, and the Ross Historical Center, which will also be closed Dec. 26, Dec. 31 and Jan. 2.

FISH will be closed from Dec. 21 until Jan. 4.

Other Christmas Eve closings are:

• At noon: most county offices, First National Bank, Mutual Federal Savings Bank downtown branch, all branches of People’s Federal Savings and Loan, Minster Bank and Osgood State Bank.

• At 1 p.m.: Agape Distribution, which will remain closed until Jan. 4; Minster Bank at Wagner’s IGA in Minster, Mutual Federal Savings Bank at Kroger and the Medicine Shoppe.

• At 2 p.m.: Fifth Third Bank, US Bank and PNC Bank.

• At 3 p.m.: YMCA, Chase Bank and Bunny’s Pharmacy.

• At 3:30 p.m.: Kroger Pharmacy.

• At 5 p.m.: Walgreen’s pharmacy.

• At 6 p.m.: Kroger grocery, which will reopen at 7 a.m. on Dec. 26, Sidney Foodtown, Sav-A-Lot, CVS pharmacy and Walmart pharmacy.

• At 8 p.m.: Walmart retail store, which will reopen at 5 a.m. on Dec. 26.

• At 10 p.m.: CVS retail store.

• At midnight: Walgreen’s retail store.

Bunny’s Pharmacy will be open on Christmas Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The CVS retail store will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Walgreen’s retail store will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. All other banks, pharmacies and grocery stores will be closed.

The Ross Historical Center, Sidney city offices, Shelby County offices, Shelby County libraries, the Senior Center, the YMCA, Gateway Arts Council galleries, the Medicine Shoppe, Bunny’s Pharmacy, Walgreen’s pharmacy and all banks will be closed all day on New Year’s Day.

Sidney city and Shelby County offices will operate at regular hours on Dec. 31.

The Gateway Arts Council galleries will close at noon on Dec. 31. The Osgood State Bank will close at 2 p.m. The YMCA, First National Bank, Mutual Federal Savings Bank downtown, all branches of the Minster Bank and the Medicine Shoppe will close at 3 p.m.

The Kroger pharmacy will close at 3:30 p.m.

Closing at 4 p.m. will be the Mutual Federal Savings Bank branch at Kroger, Shelby County offices, the Shelby County libraries and PNC bank. Closing at 5 p.m. will be Bunny’s Pharmacy, US Bank, and all branches of Peoples Federal Savings and Loan. The Walmart pharmacy, Chase and Fifth Third banks will close at 6 p.m. Sidney Foodtown will close at 7 p.m. Walgreen’s Pharmacy will close at 8 p.m. and its retail store will close at 10 p.m. Kroger grocery will close at 11 p.m. and open at 7 a.m. on Jan. 1.

On New Year’s Day, Walmart and CVS retail store will be open regular hours. The CVS and Walmart pharmacies will close at 6 p.m. Sidney Foodtown will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Walgreen’s retail store will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Walgreen’s pharmacy will be closed. The Kroger pharmacy will be open from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Bunny’s Pharmacy will have irregular hours on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. Both days it will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
