SIDNEY — Organizers have been busy planning two prayer events for May in Sidney.

Thursday, May 5, is the National Day of Prayer. Shelby County will celebrate this special day with a Prayer on the Square gathering on the Shelby County Court House lawn. The noon assembly will feature music, prayer and personal accounts from historical figures with a Shelby County connection whose spirituality inspired, guided, and sustained them during their significant era in time. At the celebration, a complimentary brown bag lunch will be offered. In the event of rain, the program will be moved to Fellowship Hall at the Sidney First United Methodist Church, 230 E. Poplar St. in Sidney.

Two days later on Saturday, May 7, the community will have the opportunity to gather a second time at 10 a.m. for the annual Community Prayer Breakfast at Christian Academy Schools in Sidney. Attendees can look forward to a complimentary brunch, music, additional testimonials from an expanded cast of living history actors, and prayer. Both prayer events are nondenominational and the public is invited.
