Give no thought to worry

Jesus says in Matthew 6:34, “Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Worrying is needless and robs us of time that should be spent on worthwhile things, such as faith, hope, and love in our never-failing Father. We are saved in our hope of the Father, but sometimes we put off hope. Proverbs 13:12 says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.”

So why would we put off (defer) hope if it harms us? We don’t intentionally put it off, but when we worry, we anticipate troubles, which makes the heart sick. This causes misery in who we have become and confuses us, resulting in our failure to remember who God made us to be. We become more worldly when we worry, causing us to focus on material things or popular people. Envy and worry are grave-diggers that have no sympathy. In fact, the Bible says envy (jealousy) rots the bones.

God did not make it in our nature to worry, which is why worrying is not healthy for us. Worry actually plays a big role in many illnesses, shown in a study that estimates 75 to 90 percent of all visits to primary care physicians are in some way related to stress, which is a strong feeling of worry and anxiety. We need to prepare by trusting in God and not worrying. Do what the Bible says, pray about everything that happens in your life and give thanks to God, for its Him alone that will give you the heart to overcome anxiety and worry. It says in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” If we follow after God, then we know that whatever is happening in our lives God will use for good.

The Bible says that it rains on the just and the unjust. But always remember, without rain things don’t grow. God gave us free will to channel that rain on whatever we want, the negative or the positive. And believe this, whatever we choose to water, it will grow! So I urge you to water your faith in Jesus, and in all life’s happenings. Don’t tolerate worry anymore, humble yourself to trust God and cast ALL your cares on Him, because He cares for you!
