Give blood, a gift of life

To the editor:

Thankful enough? Donating your blood could help you cap an even more satisfying Thanksgiving season. Please set aside time on Nov. 27 for providing your very own “Gift of Life” to someone in need.

From 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, at the Sidney American Legion, a blood drive is being sponsored by the Farm Bureau Women’s Committee and the Ohio State University Alumni Club of Shelby County. Whole blood, platelets and plasma always in need, particularly during the holiday season. People with blood types A, AB or B positive are especially needed as platelet donors.

Scheduling a donation appointment online at DonorTime.com or by calling 1-800-388-Give helps the Community Blood Center plan adequate staffing to insure the day runs smoothly.

The OSU alumni will offer a fun experience for young and old with the appearance of “OSU Buckeyeman” (Larry Lokai), a wild looking and well painted OSU fan and Tress (Dennis Singleton), a mild mannered look alike to former Buckeye coach Jim Tressel. A free candy buckeye will be offered to all donors. A kids table provides Buckeye-themed activities, enabling parents to donate while kids are involved with all the fun stuff.

Enjoy hot sandwiches and homemade cookies from the Farm Bureau women and receive a free “Get in the Game for Life-Life Saving Donor” T-shirt.

For more information about giving your precious blood, check out the Community Blood Center website, www.givingblood.org.

Hope to see you on Tuesday!
