Thanks for successful Turkey Trot 5K

To the editor:

As we wrap up all of the reports and clean up and store the supplies needed for the annual Turkey Trot 5K Race to End Hunger, it is my privilege to thank all of the people who helped make this year’s event such a huge success. We are so thankful to have the support of the City of Sidney, as well as so many businesses and individuals who help sponsor the Turkey Trot. It is because of the support we have every year that this event is not only successful, but also a joy to be a part of!

This year’s 13th annual Turkey Trot was another successful year. We were able to deliver over 3 tons of food to The Alpha Community Center Food Bank, as well as a monetary donation of over $3500.00 to be used to stock the shelves when the donated food has been depleted. Christian Academy School helped with this effort by holding a food drive themselves, and collected over 1400 cans of food. Countless volunteers donating an infinite number of hours worked throughout the year to make sure the day would run smoothly.

The data that we cannot collect is the number of hearts that will be changed because of the generosity of our community. It is our prayer that each family that benefits from this event will be blessed beyond measure. I am truly humbled by the love this community has for one another, and I am blessed by the generosity demonstrated. May each of you enjoy a happy and healthy Christmas season. I’ll see you on Thursday, November 26th, 2020 for the 14th annual Turkey Trot 5K Race to End Hunger!

Sincerely,
