Sidney water wilts flowers

To the editor:

In 55 of my 80 years, I traveled this country from New York to Hawaii, Upper Michigan to Key West, and all over the Southwest.

In none of these areas did I find drinking water with as much chlorine content as the water coming from my faucet in Sidney, Ohio.

If the water in Tawawa Creek requires such high amounts of chlorine to make it safe to drink — and I doubt it does — then Sidney should find a better source.

Put some fresh-cut flowers in a vase filled with unfiltered Sidney tap water and see them wilt in a few hours. Even the hardy lilac will wilt in about five hours.
