Consider a visit to the Senior Center

If you are a senior citizen with time on your hands, may I suggest that you pay a visit to the Senior Center, located at 304 South West Avenue. The Center is open daily (except Sunday) to those who are 50 or older and offers a wonderful variety of activities.

Coming up on Wednesday, April 19 is our Spring Card Party, which is open to the public. We invite you to bring a table of friends to play the game of you choice. There will be playing cards provided or you may bring your own, if you wish. Refreshments, including punch and coffee; door prizes, and a table prize are part of the admission.

Also available is a nice raffle ticket of over 50 prizes. We greatly appreciate the support from local merchants and businesses in donating these prizes to benefit the operating budget of the Senior Center.

Other fund-raising activities organized by the members include a Fall Bazaar, the Milestone raffle with monthly drawings to award $100, donations from euchre players, “quilting for hire,” and occasional special meals, to name a few.

One of the main highlights for me has been the super nice group of people with whom you become acquainted. The monthly “carry-in” luncheon, with business meeting and entertainment, offers a great opportunity to meet more “seniors” and make friends.

Again I say, please consider a visit to the Senior Center for a complimentary tour of the facility. The center is open weekdays 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings 8 a.m. to noon. For more information, call 937-492-5266.

Sincerely,

Trustee, Senior Center of Sidney/Shelby County
