5 truths to consider

To the editor:

There are five truths that are essential to true, i.e.biblical Christianity. Historically they are called the Five Solae. They follow.

1. Sola Deo Gloria! For the glory of God alone. 2. Sola Scriptura! The Scripture alone is the rule for faith and the practice of faith. 3. Sola Christo! By the work of Christ alone are we saved. 4. Sola Gratia! Salvation is by grace alone. 5. Sola Fide! Salvation is through faith alone.

Paul, speaking and writing by the inspiration of God the Holy Spirit in Galatians, Chapter 1, makes it clear that there is no other gospel than the gospel of grace alone, through faith in Christ alone, as he is reveled in Holy Scripture alone. He goes on to say in Galatians, Chapter 1, that if anyone comes preaching a gospel contrary to the one Paul preached, let him be accursed. That is the only “anathema” about which we need be concerned. Historically there have been other anathemas pronounced in regard to the gospel by grace through faith authority, and therefore worthless.

Therefore speaking as God dictates in his Holy Word, concerning salvation, it’s “by grace you are saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works lest anyone should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Now, dear friends, if you think that you can be saved by any other method, i.e., by works, or by following the dictates of a particular church, and not by Christ lone, then you have another thing coming. I urge you, think of this: by the grace of Almighty God, you may take Jesus Christ at his word and be eternally saved today. Come to Christ. Why indeed should you die and spend eternity in hell when Jesus paid for it all?
