To the editor:

Blood is essential to all of us. Many people need our donated blood to help while suffering from cancer, recovering from a serious accident, some surgeries and a host of additional medical challenges.

An excellent opportunity to donate YOUR blood will be on Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the American Legion hall, located at 1265 N. Fourth Ave., Sidney. The Shelby County Buckeye Blood Drive gives most healthy people the chance to become a “Buckeye Strong Blood Donor”!

In exchange for your valuable blood donation, enjoy hot sandwiches and homemade cookies provided by the Farm Bureau Women’s Committee. The Shelby County OSU Alumni plans to provide delicious edible Buckeyes for all donors along with OSU Buckeye themed door prizes given away every 30 minutes. For parents with young children, please plan to donate while the kids participate in fun activities with OSU Alumni members on hand throughout the day. All donors will also receive a limited edition “Buckeye Strong Blood Donor” t-shirt.

Please plan to “pay forward” as legendary Woody Hayes often said. Help by making your appointment with the Community Blood Center on their website at www.Donortime.com or by calling 1-800-388-GIVE .

By all means, stay healthy until then. This event promises to be a fun event for all who participate. More importantly, each donor could save up to three lives. Hope to see your there!
