SIDNEY — Sidney High School senior Sylvia Hudson has officially signed her National Letter of Intent to attend Urbana University and play basketball for the Lady Blue Knights.

Hudson, who with 1,556 points broke the previous record for career points at Sidney, was a key member of this year’s girls basketball team, which finished the regular season 22-0 and had a final overall record of 23-1.

In addition to her 1,556 career points, she had 717 rebounds, 124 assists, and a field goal percentage of 62.8 for her career.

Named first-team All-Greater Western Ohio Conference North all four years, Hudson earned a number of other honors, including GWOC North Player of the Year twice, All-GWOC twice, All-Area first team twice, first-team All-Southwest District four times, Southwest District 9 Player of the Year twice, and honorable mention All-Ohio. Hudson was the first player to reach 1,000 points in her junior year.

Academically, Hudson achieved high honors her entire senior year.

“The accomplishments Sylvia has earned in her four years at Sidney High School are incredible,” said Sidney head coach Megan Mummey. “She has been a true inspiration to the girls basketball program. She will be truly missed next year, but without a doubt I know her success will continue at Urbana University.”

“I have had a great four years of playing basketball for Sidney and have accomplished so much with the help of my coaches and teammates, but I’m looking forward to the future and playing at the collegiate level,” Hudson said.
