FL’s Knouff remains unbeaten

ARCANUM — Fort Loramie junior standout Emily Knouff remained unbeaten and continued to impress on Wednesday when she won the Arcanum Lady Trojans Invitational by 15 strokes in girls golf action at Beechwood.

Knouff shot a 74 to easily take medalist honors in the seven-team tournament. She has won every tournament she’s played in so far this season. She went out in 36 and shot a 38 coming in.

The runner-up was Maddie Covault of Versailles with an 89.

Versailles won the team championship with a 413. In addition to Covault, Lauren Durham was third with a 96, Lauren Heitkamp fifth with a 98 and Jorja Pothast seven with a 101.

Russia finished second in the team standings with a 413 and was led by four top ten finishers. Maddie Borchers shot a 98 for fourth, Kara Barlage 102 for sixth, Alicia George 105 for eighth, and Lizzie Adams 108 for ninth. Ellie Fiessinger was 22nd with a 130.

Fort Loramie was third with a 432. In addition to Knouff, Megan Koppin was 10th with a 110, Amy Eilerman 18th with a 122 and Kylee Poeppelman 20th with a 126.

New Bremen was fifth with a 514 and led by Amy Schmitmeyer in 14th place with a 114. Molly Borkowski was 19th with a 123, Claire McClurg 27th with a 134 and Amy Balster 31st with a 141.

Final team standings — 1. Versailles 320, 2. Russia 413, 3. Fort Loramie 432, 4. Arcanum 468, 5. New Bremen 514, 6. Covington 545, 7. Tri-Village 556.

Sidney boys 11th

GREENVILLE — Sidney competed in the Greenville Invitational boys golf tournament on Thursday at Turtle Creek Golf Club, and finished 11th out of 15 teams with a 396.

The Jackets were led by Cole Cartwright’s 93 and Jared Lindsey’s 94. Zane Walker added a 102 and Spencer Karn 107.

Versailles placed fifth with a 349. The Tigers were led by Jacob Watren with an 84. Nicholas Litten Stonebraker had an 87, Griffen Riegle 88 and Kyle Cotner 90.

Russia finished in seventh place with a 359. Zach Sherman led the way with an 87 for the Raiders, Connor Monnin and Jonah Counts both shot 90 and Gunnar Young added a 92.

• Fort Loramie competed in the Kendig Memorial on Wednesday and finished fifth.

The scores for the Redskins included a 76 from Brad Goettemoeller, 81 from Tanner Rosengarten, 83 from Aaron Schwartz and 9 from Craig Eilerman.

Jets win big

TROY — The Fairlawn Jets won easily at Miami Shores Thursday in high school boys golf, 174-236 over Troy Christian.

The Jets were led by Kyle Noble and Nathan Lessing, who both carded 42s. Kody Curtner had a 43 and Mason Jones 47. Ben Brautigam added a 48.
