County tourneys start Saturday

BOTKINS — The County Junior High Girls Basketball Tournaments will get underway at Botkins on Saturday.

The 7th grade tournament will be held in the junior high gym, except for the championship game, which will move to the high school gym.

The 8th grade tournament games will all be held in the high school gym.

7th grade

The 7th grade tournament will begin with three games on Saturday, the first one starting at 10 a.m.

First-round games have Anna playing Fairlawn, Fort Loramie playing Jackson Center and Russia facing Houston. Botkins has the first-round bye.

Semifinal games will be next Tuesday (Jan. 31) at 6 and 7:15, and the championship will be Jan. 7 at 6 p.m., just prior to the 8th grade championship.

Following are the pairings:

Saturday

Botkins Junior High

10 a.m. — Anna vs. Fairlawn

11:15 — Fort Loramie vs. Jackson Center

12:30 — Russia vs. Houston

Tuesday

Semifinals

6:00 — Botkins vs. Anna-Fairlawn winner

7:15 — Loramie-Jackson winner vs. Russia-Houston winner

Championship — Feb. 7, 6 p.m., high school gym.

8th grade

The 8th grade girls tournament will also feature three first-round games on Saturday.

The first-round pairings are the same as in the 7th grade tourney. Botkins again has the first-round bye, while Fort Loramie faces Jackson Center, Russia meets Houston and Anna plays Fairlawn.

The semifinals will also be Tuesday and the championship on Feb. 7 following the 7th grade title game.
