Sidney’s Javon Purk wrestled his way to a runner-up finish in the Greater Western Ohio Conference Tournament over the weekend.

Purk, a 195-pounder, started off with a bye, then won a 17-2 technical fall over a Xenia opponent to advance to the semifinals.

There he took on a Beavercreek wrestler and pinned him in 1:39.

In the finals against Cochran of Springfield, Purk was pinned in 5:33.
