NEW KNOXVILLE — Minster led 19-0 after the first quarter and scored the game’s first 23 points in all in defeating New Knoxville 55-26 in Midwest Athletic Conference action Thursday.

The win was a big one for Minster because it clinched no worse than a share of the conference championship. The Lady Wildcats are now 8-0 in the league and 17-2 overall, and among their remaining games is one against once-beat Fort Recovery to end conference play. A Recovery win in that game would result in a three-way tie for the title.

Minster plays Anna Saturday, Wapakoneta Tuesday and Fort Recovery Thursday — all at home — to end the regular season.

New Knoxville falls to 2-6 in the league and 8-13 overall and hosts Minster Thursday in its final regular-season game.

Minster got 14 points from Ali Borgerding, 11 from Courtney Prenger and 10 from Taylor Kogge in beating its neighboring rival Thursday night.

Kenzie Schroer had 10 for the Lady Rangers.

JC 64, Houston 14

JACKSON CENTER — The Jackson Center Lady Tigers scored six more points in the first quarter than Houston managed for the game in a 64-14 rout in County girls basketball action Thursday at Jackson.

The win gave the Lady Tigers an outright County championship with an 11-1 league mark. The Lady Tigers are now 16-3 heading into one of their toughest games of the season, Saturday at home against Versailles.

Houston finishes 3-9 in the league and 8-14 for the regular season.

Cassie Meyer had 20 to lead Jackson Center, which had ten players break into the scoring column.

Russia 45, Loramie 30

FORT LORAMIE — The Russia Lady Raiders finished in second place by themselves in the final County standings, thanks to a 45-30 victory over Fort Loramie in action Thursday at Loramie.

Russia ends up league play at 9-3 and regular season play at 17-5.

Loramie finished 8-4 in the league and is 14-7 overall heading to Marion Local Tuesday.

Russia built up a 20-16 lead at the half, then opened it up to 36-24 after three quarters.

The Lady Raiders had excellent balance. Maria Herron had 11 and four others had six or more.

Russia hit 16 for 30 from the field for 53 percent to just 32 percent for Loramie on 11 of 34.

Taylor Ratermann had 10 to lead the Lady Redskins.

Anna won its second straight, beating Fairlawn 68-28 in County action Thursday at Fairlawn.

The Lady Rockets finish league play at 4-8 and are now 10-11 heading into a game at Minster Saturday to end the regular season.

Fairlawn ends league play 0-12 and is now 0-21 going into the regular-season finale Thursday at Mechanicsburg.

Macey Huelskamp led Anna with 21 points, and Mackenzie Scully added 10 points. Eleven players in all scored for the Lady Rockets.

Madison Pierce had 11 to lead Fairlawn.
