Lady Jackets rout Tipp City

After Monday’s loss to Tipp City on the road, the Sidney Lady Jackets had a rematch at home Tuesday, and made the most of it, routing the Lady Red Devils 9-3 in Greater Western Ohio Conference American North action at Aschenbach Field.

The win put the Lady Jackets at 2-1 in the North and 2-3 overall. Tipp is now 1-1 and 3-3.

Sidney wasted no time in taking command of the game, scoring seven times in the bottom of the first inning.

Sommer Inman singled and was sacrificed to second, then scored on Grace Shell’s RBI single. Kacey Swiger then singled and the next hitter was hit by a pitch. After Morgan Carey singled in the second run, Maddi White belted a grand slam home run.

After a pitching change, Sidney added another run on an RBI single by Hayley Powers.

Shell pitched the distance and allowed just five hits, with six strikeouts. In two games against Tipp this week, Shell struck out 17.

She also was 3-for-3 at the plate and added a home run to five her two RBIs.

Sidney is at Xenia on Friday.

Lehman 19, Ridgemont 5

RIDGEWAY — Lehman scored seven times in the first inning to set the tone, and went on to run-rule Ridgemont 19-5 in six innings in Northwest Central Conference action Tuesday at Ridgemont.

The win put Lehman at 1-2 in the league and 3-2 overall.

Sidney Chapman had four hits with a double to lead Lehman’s 18-hit attack.

Angela Brunner and Kara Gillman both singled and doubled, and Grace Monnin, Abby Schutt, Carly Edwards and Camille Odle all singled twice.

Riverside 17, Anna 3

ANNA — Riverside plated 13 runs in the top of the first and went on to run-rule the Anna Lady Rockets in non-league softball Tuesday at Anna, 17-3.

The loss left Anna at 0-2 on the season and gave Riverside a 5-0 record.

The Lady Pirates were led by Marissa Davis, who had three hits, including a double and a home run.

Kristin Davidson was 3-for-5, Lauren Anderson and Shelby Giles both singled and doubled, and Keirstyn Severt and Helena Faulder both had two hits.

For Anna, Riley Osborn had a triple and Chloe Spence a double.

Marion 10, Loramie 3

FORT LORAMIE – Fort Loramie dropped to .500 on the year at 2-2 after a 10-3 loss to Marion Local in non-league action at Fort Loramie Tuesday.

The Lady Redskins lost by a deceiving final score, since the two teams were tied 2-2 heading to the fifth inning. But Marion scored three times in that frame and went on to add five more runs over the final two innings.

Loramie got two hits each from Abby Holthaus and Cassidy Albers and a double from Gabriel Olberding.

Marion Local’s Sarah Fesenmeyer had two hits and scored three times and Maddie Griesdorn singled and doubled.

Minster 13, JC 3

MINSTER — Jackson Center led 3-2 after scoring twice in the top of the fifth, but then the roof caved in.

Minster scored three in the bottom of the fifth, and eight in the sixth to end the game on the 10-run rule, 13-3.

The loss left the Lady Tigers at 1-2 on the year. Minster goes to 5-2.

Karly Richard had a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth for the key hit in the game for Minster. Taylor Homan had four stolen bases.

For Jackson, Cassie Meyer had two hits and drove in two runs.
