Jackets fall in tourney opener

BEAVERCREEK — Sidney could muster just two hits and lost 4-0 to Beavercreek in first-round Division 1 Sectional Baseball action at Beavercreek Tuesday.

The loss left the Jackets at 7-20 on the season.

Beavercreek struck for three runs in the bottom of the first and Sidney never recovered, managing just a pair of singles by Kyle Noble and Jack Feazel.

MINSTER — As expected, Minster had no trouble with Waynesfield-Goshen in Division 4 Sectional Baseball Tournament play Tuesday at Minster, winning 14-0.

The win puts Minster at 17-6 and they return to tournament action at home Thursday against St. Henry.

Three Minster pitchers combined on a perfect game, with starter Jack Heitkamp striking out eight in just three innings. The trio fanned 12 in all.

Alex Lehmkuhl and Carter Hogenkamp both had two hits for Minster and Ben Stubbs doubled.

Coldwater 8, Lehman 6

Lehman added a game with perennial power Coldwater Tuesday at Lehman in non-league play, and led most of the way. But Coldwater scored five times in the sixth to win 8-6.

Lehman is 21-3 and hosts Mechanicsburg Wednesday in tournament play. Coldwater is 16-5.

For Lehman, Parker Riley and Jared Rourke both doubled, and Rourke and Bryce Kennedy both drove in two runs. Dylan Arnold scored twice.

Anna 16, Botkins 6

ANNA — Anna run-ruled Botkins 16-6 in County play Tuesday.

The Rockets go to 9-2 in the league and 16-7 overall. Botkins is 3-7 and 5-15.

Anna ran wild in the six-inning game, finishing with 17 stolen bases.

Aidan Endsly and Nathan Frilling were both 2-for-3 with three runs scored, and Endsley added two RBIs.

Derek Coverstone tripled, Mitchell Lindsey and Jarred Seigel had doubles, while Coverstone scored three times, Caleb Kauffman, Seth Stiefel and Siegle all scored twice, and Lindsey and Siegel drove in two runs each.

For Botkins, Nick Buettner was 2-for-3.
