TROY — Sidney High’s boys and girls track teams competed in the Greater Western Ohio Conference Track and Field Meet, the first day of which was held Wednesday at Troy Memorial Stadium.

Each event was broken down into American and National, with Sidney in the American Division.

The top performances for the Yellow Jackets came from Devon Rogers, who took first place in the shot put, and Josiah Hudgins, who won the high jump with a season’s best 6-feet, 3 inches. That ties him for first in the Track Honor Roll.

After that, the next best finish was third place by two boys relay teams.

The 400 relay team was third-best among teams in their division with a 43.96. And the 3200 relay team also placed third with a time of 8:53.68.

There were two fourth-place finishes. One was by Emma Wiford in the shot put with a distance of 33 feet, 4 inches. The other came from Jalen Hudgins in the long jump. He went 20 feet, 1.5 inches, a half-inch shy of his previous best this season.

The boys 800 relay team placed fifth in 1:35.54, and there were three sixth-place finishes.

Isaiah Bowser had one, running an 11.46 in the 100-meter dash.

The boys 1600 relay team was also sixth, running a 3:47.77. And the girls 400 relay placed sixth in 54.95.

Hudgins added a seventh-place finish in the 200 dash in 23.49.

In the team scores, Sidney’s boys are 11th with 53 points, and that includes being third among GWOC American North Division teams.

The Sidney girls are in 17th place in the 20-team field, and stand sixth among GWOC North teams with 20 points.
