Russia’s tournament hopes ended in the Division 4 sectional softball finals held Tuesday at Fairlawn.

Mechanicsburg blanked the Lady Raiders 5-0 to leave them at 19-7 on the season. They will play at Botkins Wednesday to try to finish the County schedule with a perfect 12-0 mark. They have already clinched an outright championship.

No other details of the game were available.

• In other D-4 sectional final action, the Riverside Lady Pirates edged Ansonia 5-4 in eight innings to advance to the district finals against Fayetteville on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Eaton.

In the third sectional final Tuesday, top-seeded Newton was routed by fourth-seeded Covington 14-6.

JC 15, Botkins 1

BOTKINS — Jackson Center completed its softball schedule with a 15-1 win over Botkins in County play Tuesday at Botkins.

The Lady Tigers finish 8-12 overall and 5-7 in the league. Botkins is now 1-18 overall and 1-10 in the league and hosts Russia Wednesday in the season finale for both teams.

Jackson Center got a big game from Camryn Hoehne, who had a single, triple and home run. Cassie Meyer also had three hits, and Brynna Davis, Riley Jackson and Raquel Kessler all had two hits.

BASEBALL

Lehman 5, Milton 3

DAYTON — Lehman took on West Milton at the home of the Dayton Dragons, Fifth-Third Field, on Tuesday night in a tuneup for Wednesday’s sectional final game against Russia.

The Cavaliers fell behind 3-2 when Milton got a run in the top of the fifth, but responded with two in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good and win 5-3.

The win puts the Cavs at 23-3 on the season. Milton is 12-12 and plays Versailles Wednesday in D-3 sectional final action.

“It was a nice tuneup and we got a lot of guys in the game,” said Lehman coach Dave King. “And our pitching hung tough.”

King used five different pitchers, with Drew Barhorst getting the win and Brandon Simmons the save.

Parker Riley and Dylan Arnold both singled and doubled and Tyler Lachey and Jared Magoteaux both had two singles. Arnold drove in two runs.

TCN 10, Anna 9

LEWISBURG — Anna and Tri-County North also played a tuneup game Monday prior to sectional final action, and it was a wild one, with North scoring five times in the bottom of the seventh to beat the Rockets 10-9.

Anna is now 18-8 on the year and North 19-7.

Anna plays Northeastern Wednesday in D-3 sectional final action at Tecumseh, and North plays Midletown Christian in a D-4 sectional final.

For Anna, Seth Stiefel and Aidan Endsley singled and doubled, and Nathan Frilling and Derek Coverstone had two singles each.

Coverstone drove in three runs, Endsley and Zach White scored twice and Joey Cummings added a double.

• Anna also played Northmont on Tuesday and lost 7-0.
