Loramie boys win districtchampionship at Milton

The first leg of the track and field postseason was held last week, and three teams emerged with district championships.

The Fort Loramie boys track team won the D-3 district title at West Milton Saturday, and both Minster teams won D-3 district titles at Spencerville.

The Fort Loramie boys won the 800 and 3200 relays and qualified in both the 400 and 1600 relays. In addition, on Saturday, Joe Ballas won the 800, Tom Ballas won the 1600 and Jake Rethman won the 3200, giving the Redskins a sweep of the distance events.

Jarrett Meyer added a first in the 110 hurdles.

Josh Miller of Botkins added a first in the shot put Saturday to go with his win in the discus earlier in the week. In the shot put, however, he set a new district record of 55 feet, 8.75 inches.

The Minster girls won three relays and finished second in the fourth, and also got wins from Paige Thobe in the long jump, Savanah Luthman in the shot, Emma Watcke in the 1600 and Madeline Magoto in the 800 in rolling up 148 points.

Watcke set a new district meet record in the 1600 of 5:07.44.

Max Prenger won the shot put for the Minster boys.

The Anna girls turned in a good effort in the D-3 meet at West Milton, finishing second behind Covington by just nine points.

Anna won the 400, 800 and 1600 relays, and also got a win from Kennedey Glover in the 800.

Fort Loramie’s Kennedi Gephart put on quite a show, winning both the 100 and 200 dashes and finishing second in the 400 to qualify for the regional in all three.

Teammates Alyssa Wrasman and Danielle Berning won the 100 hurdles and 1600, respectively, Houston’s Shelby Ayers won the discus and Russia’s Emily Bohman was first in the pole vault.

Division 1

Sidney competed in the D-1 district finals on Friday night and advanced a relay team and two individuals to the regional meet.

Devan Rogers finished third in the shot put and freshman Ana Adams was third in the girls 3200. In addition, the boys 400 relay team also advanced after placing fourth.
