JACKSON CENTER — The Raiders beat Jackson Center 25-14 and 25-18 in the first two sets, lost 25-23 in the third set and won 25-22 in the fourth set to claim the Shelby County Athletic League match on Tuesday.

Laurissa Poling had 15 kills, eight digs, and four blocks for Russia. Cameo Wilson had 11 kills and four digs, while Ashley Scott had nine kills. Jenna Cordonnier had 37 assists, 17 digs and seven kills, and Whitney Pleiman had 19 digs and three aces. Lexi Monnin had nine digs and three aces.

“This was a great game for our confidence as a team,” Russia coach Aaron Watkins said. “We played great and responded well when JC picked it up in the third set. Proud of my team for this hard-fought win!”

Raquel Kessler had 29 kills and 10 digs for Jackson Center. Caroline Frieders had 20 assists and seven kills, while Madilynn Platfoot had 11 assists and Katie Sosby had 14 digs.

Russia (3-2) plays next on Friday at home against Newton. Jackson Center (1-2) plays Thursday at Anna.

Anna 3, Houston 0

Anna beat the Wildcats 25-10, 25-15 and 25-9 on Tuesday night. Emma Meyer had 14 kills, two solo blocks and two assisted blocks for the Rockets. Macy Wiktorowski had nine kills and Ashley Landis had seven kills and two assisted blocks.

Lexi Wells had 26 assists for Anna, while Rachel Shoemaker had 18 digs and three aces. Abby Counts had 11 digs and Carly Becker had 10 digs.

Sarah Monnier had four kills, seven digs and one block for Houston. Olivia Bowser had 10 digs and one assist, while Jessica Monnier had five digs, four kills, two aces and one block. Alyssa Kemp had one kill, 11 assists and four digs.

Anna (2-2) hosts Jackson Center on Thursday while Houston (1-4) travels to Botkins.

Fort Loramie 3, Botkins 0

The Redskins beat Botkins 26-24, 25-5 and 25-15 on Tuesday in Fort Loramie. Marissa Meiring had 12 kills and 11 digs while McKenzie Hoelscher had nine kills and Morgan Holscher had eight. Sophia Albers had 34 assists and 12 digs, and Chloe Stang had eight digs.

Loramie coach John Rodgers said he was pleased to see his team bounce back after a close first set.

“We had a tough time getting in rhythm tonight and there is nobody to blame but ourselves,” Rodgers said. “We will add tonight to the long list of learning experiences we have and will have this season.”

Fort Loramie (4-3) travels to Fairlawn on Thursday while Botkins (2-3) hosts Houston.

Piqua 3, Sidney 2

Piqua won the fifth set 15-6 to beat Sidney on Tuesday. It was the first competition between teams from Piqua and Sidney this year, which will battle for an all-sports trophy.

Sidney won the first set 25-22 and fourth set 25-16. Piqua won the second set 25-21 and third set 25-19.

Alina Kindle had 17 kills and Arielle Snider knocked down 14. Ally Spangler had three blocks and Faith Bockrath had two. Kindle led the defense with 16 digs and Payton Boshears scrapped for 14. Boshears served 26-of-30 with six aces and Snider served three aces. Carrie Nuss set up the offense with 38 assists on 129-of-130 setting.

Sidney plays at Vandalia-Butler on Thursday.

Boys Golf

Fairlawn 200, Houston 203

Jackson Jones had a 45 to lead Fairlawn to a three-stroke win over Houston on Tuesday at Shelby Oakes Golf Course. Kyle Peters had a 50 for the Jets, Skylar Piper had a 52, Luke Hickman had a 53, Doug Wright had a 55 and Chester Hughes had a 56.

Bryan Funk led Houston with a 48. Cole Pitchford had a 51, Collin Walker and Cameron Via had 52, Nathan Stengel had a 56 and John Steinford had a 64.

Jackson Center 184, Botkins 194

Bryce Sosby had a 43 to help the Tigers beat Botkins on Tuesday at Shelby Oakes. Trent Platfoot had a 44, Chris Elchert had a 48, Jordan Rizzo and TJ Esser had 49 and Coltin Rose had a 50.

Botkins’ Nick Fischio was medalist with a 42. Alex Bajwa had a 44, Anthony Opperman had a 45, Connor Stutsman and Parker Geis each had 63 and Marcus Lee had a 64.

Riverside third at Liberty Hills

Riverside was third in a tri-match with Urbana and Benjamin Logan on Tuesday at Liberty Hills Golf Course. Urbana was first with a 172, while Benjamin Logan had a 176 and Riverside had a 190.

Trey Lane led the Pirates with a 40. James Hudson and Jason Yoder had a 48 and John Zumberger had a 54. Urbana’s William McDaniel was the medalist with a 35. Will Kenoyer and Ethan Ricketts each had 40 for Ben Logan.

Girls Golf

Versailles 195, Parkway 227

Jorja Pothast was the medalist with a 44 in the Tigers’ win over Parkway on Tuesday at Celina Lynx Golf Course. Lauren Durham had a 46, Morgan Heitkamp had a 52, Anna Groff had a 53, Morgan Barlage had a 54 and Ali Moran had a 74. Haylee Stukey had the lowest score for Parkway with a 49.

Versailles is undefeated through three matches, all of which have been against Midwest Athletic Conference competition.

Riverside first at Cherokee Hills

Riverside was first in a tri-match with Urbana and Ben Logan on Tuesday at Cherokee Hills Golf Course. The Pirates had a 197, 28 strokes better than Ben Logan, who was in second place. Urbana was third with a 233.

Dana Jones was the medalist with a career-low 38.
