ST. HENRY — Travis Meyer returned to help Anna earn its biggest win of the season on Friday at St. Henry. Meyer, who suffered an ACL injury before a game against New Bremen on Sept. 15, threw for 118 yards and one touchdown to help the Rockets beat St. Henry 21-19.

The Rockets improved to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the Midwest Athletic Conference with the win.

Meyer threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Austin Fogt late in the third quarter to give Anna a 21-13 lead. The Redskins pulled within 21-19 early in the fourth quarter on a 23-yard touchdown reception by Ryan Luttmer, but a missed two-point conversion prevented a tied score.

Aidan Endsley scored on a 5-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter to put the Rockets ahead 14-13.

Riley Huelskamp scored the game’s first touchdown on a 20-yard run to give Anna a 7-0 lead. St. Henry tied the score before the end of the first on a touchdown pass and took a 13-7 lead with a touchdown pass late in the second quarter.

Anna had 132 rushing yards in the game and 250 yards of offense overall, while St. Henry had 308 total yards, including 234 through the air.

Anna hosts Parkway on Friday.

George Grow led the way for the Tigers with three touchdowns on Friday. The Panthers’ lone touchdown came on an 83-yard kickoff return.

Versailles led 16-0 at halftime. George Grow scored twice in the second quarter. The Tigers missed an extra point, but kicker Jeffrey Ware kicked a 24-yard field goal with no time left in the half.

Kurtis Rutschilling started the scoring for the Tigers in the second half on a 35-yard run to put the Tigers up 23-0. Parkway answered with a long kick return and a two-point conversion.

Garrett Thompson made it 29-8 late in the fourth quarter with a 4-yard touchdown. The extra point was no good.

Faced with a 21-point deficit, the Panthers started throwing deep. With the ball at their 38, a long pass was intercepted by Nathan Wagner on the Tiger side of the field. Wagner returned in to the Panther 25-yard line.

Grow scored his final touchdown of the night on a 5-yard run.

Versailles ran for 227 yards on the night. Thompson led the Tigers with 127 yards on 17 carries.

“Running game played well tonight,” Versailles coach Adam Miller said. “Offensive line blocked well. It’s a team effort.”

It was the second-straight win for the Tigers (3-4, 2-3 MAC), which host Coldwater on Friday.

“Big game against Coldwater,” Miller said. “We keep telling the kids one game at a time. If they were looking forward to this one, well, here it is.”
