SIDNEY — Arrest warrants have been issued for a Sidney man and his girlfriend following a Saturday evening assault.
According to a press release from the Sidney Police Department, Johnny L. Harness, 31 of North West Avenue, is wanted on a felonious assault warrant, a felony 2. His girlfriend, Samantha Rivera, 24, same address, is sought on an obstructing justice warrant, which is a felony 3. Both warrants were issued by Sidney Municipal Court.
Harness was allegedly involved in the assault of a 16-year-old boy on Saturday, March 12, around 6 p.m.
The release states the 16-year-old was walking with another juvenile in the 200 block of North West Avenue when a verbal altercation was exchanged between the juveniles and an adult male subject who was at 233 ½ N. West Ave. After the verbal exchange the two male juveniles continued to walk southbound on West Avenue.
When the juveniles reached the intersection of North Street the male subject to which they had their verbal exchange with ran from across the street and punched the 16-year-old, knocking the juvenile to the ground and unconscious. As a result of the assault the victim was transported to Wilson Health and then taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.
There were several witnesses to the assault and as a result the suspect’s identity was quickly learned and was identified as Harness. Multiple contacts were attempted at the Harness’s residence however he was not located. Harness’s live in girl-friend, Rivera, was question by the responding officers and she knowingly provided misleading information to them to prevent Harness’s discovery and to conceal his involvement with the assault.
