BOTKINS — A new face will be at the helm of Botkins Local School next fall. A new superintendent was hired at a special Botkins Board of Education meeting Monday night.

Jeff McPheron was hired as superintendent and given a two-year contract. He will begin on Aug. 1, 2016.

Current Botkins Superintendent Connie Schneider announced last year that she would be retiring at the end of 2015-16 school year.

McPheron was principal at Botkins from 2007 to 2014. He has been the middle school principal at Benjamin Logan Schools in Bellefontaine for the past two years.

Details for compensation still have to be approved. That will happen in April at the regular board meeting.

McPheron currently lives in the Indian Lake area, but will be moving to the Botkins School District before the new school year.
