Car strikes boy riding bike

SIDNEY — A 12-year-old boy was taken by CareFlight to Dayton’s Children’s Hospital after being struck by a car Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, the office received a 911 call at 5:09 p.m. concerning a crash involving a car and a bicycle. Witnesses told deputies that the boy, who was riding a bicycle on Bulle Road, failed to stop at the posted stop sign at the intersection of Bulle and Sidney Plattsville roads. The bicycle entered the path of a 2011 grey Honda Accord, which was traveling west on Sidney Plattsville Road.

Sidney Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported the bicyclist to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney. He was then transported to Children’s Hospital.

Pending notification of family, names of those involved in the accident weren’t being released at press time.

The crash remains under investigation.
