RUSSIA — Thirty-three diplomas are expected to be presented to members of the Russia High School Class of 2017 during graduation ceremonies planned for Sunday, May 28, 2017, in the Clair C. Naveau Gym. Audrey Gariety, class president, will welcome family, friends and staff to the ceremony, which begins at 1:30 p.m.
Class Vice President Maria Herron will welcome everyone to the baccalaureate ceremony planned for Sunday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Remy Church in Russia.
At presstime, there are seven valedictorians and one salutatorian for the Class of 2017. Class rank could change or additional speakers could be added when final grades are received on Monday, May 22.
Valedictorians after seven semesters are Madison Borchers, daughter of Doug and Beth Borchers; Samuel Cook, son of Rob and Amy Cook; Dylan Cordonnier, son of Rob and Lynn Cordonnier; Shaelyn Goubeaux, daughter of Wesley and Chandra Goubeaux; Maria Herron, daughter of Jamie and Lynn Herron; Chloe Sherman, daughter of Doug and Beth Sherman; and Audrey Voisard, daughter of Eric and Nicki Voisard. The salutatorian is Tiffany Hatcher, daughter of Tim and Nancy Hatcher.
The class colors are royal blue and gold. The class motto is “Can’t Win ‘em All,” author unknown. The class song is “May We All” by Florida Georgia Line. The class flower is the yellow daisy pomp.
