HOUSTON — On Thursday, April 30, 14 Houston FFA members traveled to Columbus to attend the State FFA Convention. Members participated in the Ohio FFA Fights Hunger event where more than 400 FFA members packaged meals for the hungry. In addition to this community service event, Houston students toured Anthony-Thomas Chocolate Factory where they saw first-hand the process of mixing, packaging, and marketing their chocolate products.

Several chapter members received state recognition as well throughout the two-day event. Zach McKee and Morgan Nash received gold ratings on their officer books and Zach Freytag and Morgan Nash were recognized for receiving their State FFA Degree. This is the highest honor that the Ohio FFA Association can bestow upon its members with only 3 percent of Ohio FFA members receiving this award. Morgan Ferryman and Andrew Sluss were also selected to perform in the State FFA Band and Ryan Swob competed in the State FFA Talent Show where he placed second in the state.
