NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — An attorney for a woman charged with killing her 5-year-old son in 1991 says three people testified they saw the boy at a New Jersey carnival where his mother says he disappeared from.
Attorney Gerald Krovatin (kroh-VAYT’-ihn) spoke to the jury Wednesday during closing arguments in the murder trial of his client, Michelle Lodzinski. She first said Timothy Wiltsey disappeared while they were at the Sayreville carnival, then said he had been kidnapped from there.
Prosecutors say the boy was never at the carnival and Lodzinski killed him elsewhere. His remains were found several months later in a marshy area a few miles away.
Prosecutors will make their closing arguments later Wednesday.
Lodzinski was arrested near her home in Port St. Lucie, Florida, in 2014.
The trial began in mid-March.
