KOH SAMUI, Thailand (AP) — Officials say a speed boat carrying 32 tourists and four crew members to the tourist resort island of Samui has capsized, leaving two foreigners dead and two others missing.
Police Maj. Gen. Apichart Boonsriraj said Friday that both the dead are women, and have been identified as a Briton and a German.
Pichet Sudduan, a port official, said the boat was traveling from Anghong island to Samui Thursday afternoon when it capsized because of strong winds and high waves. The tourists were thrown overboard and some were trapped under the capsized vessel.
Apichart said the missing tourists are from Hong Kong and Britain.
