CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (AP) — A central Ohio sheriff has identified a man who was fatally struck by a train.
The Pickaway County sheriff’s office said Saturday that Jeffrey Gullett of Piketon was killed Friday afternoon when he was hit by the train just west of U.S. Route 23, near Circleville.
The train’s conductor reported that Gullett had been seated on the southbound tracks and appeared to be listening to a cellphone. The conductor told authorities that the man never moved from the tracks when the train’s horn sounded repeatedly.
The sheriff says the Pickaway County coroner has requested an autopsy and the case remains under investigation.
