YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — A northeastern Ohio high school is closed following a series of fights between students that ended with police officers using chemical spray.
More than two dozen officers responded to a late morning fight at East High School in Youngstown Tuesday that later escalated into several other fights.
The Vindicator reports (http://bit.ly/1M6timx ) at least five students were taken to a juvenile justice center on charges of disorderly conduct.
Students who weren’t fighting said they were also sprayed by police.
Classes were dismissed Tuesday and the school remained closed Wednesday.
The Youngstown Chapter of the NAACP has requested a meeting with school board and district officials and parents to talk about problems at the school.
