Presidential candidate Kasich begins day’s Ohio campaigning

SHARONVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Ohio’s own presidential candidate will headline a suburban Cincinnati Republican club’s annual pancake breakfast, beginning a busy campaign day in the state.

The Northeast Hamilton County Republican Club says Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sik) will be joined Saturday by GOP statewide office-holders including U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, Attorney General Mike DeWine and Secretary of State Jon Husted (HYOO’-sted). Club president Zachary Haines says the region’s congressmen and other elected officials are expected at the Sharonville Convention Center.

Trailing in the GOP delegate count, Kasich is counting on winning his home state Tuesday. He’s campaigning across Ohio this weekend.

Meanwhile, GOP front-runner Donald Trump returns to Ohio with a planned rally in the Dayton area. Former President Bill Clinton leads a Saturday morning get-out-the-vote effort in Cincinnati among Democratic events planned.
