NEW BREMEN — The New Bremen FFA Dairy Judging team competed in the State contest at The Ohio State University in Columbus recently.

Team members had to evaluate cows by determining the best udder, structure and feet and legs. Students also had to pick the best sire on the criteria they were given to determine sire selection. Pedigree was also handed out, which consisted of picking the best dam and sire from their ancestry. Finally, students presented oral reasons based on how each individual placed the cow classes.

The team consisted of Brennan Topp, Mitchell Brown, Amanda Brown and Debbie Paul. They received second place as a team. Individually, Brennan Topp placed second overall, Mitchell Brown placed fifth, Debbie Paul placed 24th, and Amanda Brown placed 33rd. They have earned the opportunity to judge competitively at The Big E, a regional judging competition which will be held in Springfield, Massachusetts ine September. Rachel Topp helped coach the team.
