BOTKINS — Immaculate Conception Parish, Main Street, Botkins, will host an outdoor concert by Matt Dietz on Sunday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m. as part of the church’s 150th anniversary celebration.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees should bring their lawn chairs. The concert will be held in the parking lot on the south side of the church; poor weather will move the concert to the church basement.

Dietz was raised directly across from Immaculate Conception Church in Botkins, the son of Larry and Lois Dietz. He currently resides in Sidney with his wife, Stacy, and three children, Nick, 7; Hailey, 7; and Logan, 3. Dietz has played guitar for roughly 20 years and but only began playing publicly in 2014. He plays acoustic guitar and sings a variety of genres from country, pop and rock.

“We’re so pleased that Matt, as a son of IC parish, has graciously agreed to present this concert, and hope for a great turnout. We’re sure it will be a wonderful evening,” Immaculate Conception anniversary committee member Rachel Barber said.

Attendees should note that Walnut Street (to the north side of the church) will not be available for parking Sunday. Because of railroad maintenance work, all traffic will be diverted (from State Street), preventing parking on Walnut.

The Petersburg Parishes of Botkins Immaculate Conception, Fryburg St. John, Rhine St. Lawrence and Wapakoneta St. Joseph are named for the now-vanished Petersburg settlement (between Wapakoneta and Botkins) from which the parishes emerged in the 19th century. They are served by pastor the Rev. Patrick Sloneker and assistant pastor the Rev. Daniel Hunt. For more information about Sunday’s concert, call 419-738-4924.
