Philanthropy award deadline nears

DAYTON — The Association of Fundraising Professionals National Philanthropy Day committee has extended the deadline for its annual National Philanthropy Day awards nomination process.

The new deadline for submissions is July 24. This year’s nomination application is available now and completely online. The application can be accessed at

The community is invited to join the celebration by nominating those who have given their time, talent and treasure to change their communities in the following categories:

• Outstanding Philanthropist

• Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser

• Outstanding Fundraising Professional

• Outstanding Foundation

• Outstanding Large Corporation

• Outstanding Small Corporation

• Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy (ages 5-17)

• Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy (ages 18-23)

The 26th annual National Philanthropy Day awards luncheon will be Nov. 10 at the Sinclair Community College Ponitz Center.

National Philanthropy Day is a day set aside to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy — and those people active in the philanthropic community — to the enrichment of our world.

Association of Fundraising Professionals, an association of professionals throughout the world, advances philanthropy by enabling people and organizations to practice ethical and effective fundraising. The core activities through which AFP fulfills this mission include education, training, mentoring, research, credentialing and advocacy. Since 1989, development professionals, consultants, board members and nonprofit executives have joined the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Dayton Region Chapter, in order to share best practices and stay up-to-date with current fundraising tactics, trends and strategies. AFP provides both local fundraisers and local funders the opportunity to connect and learn from each other.
