Few spots left for teacher workshop

SIDNEY — Looking for a fun way to get that last few CEUs, or that one last Graduate Credit before school starts back up again? You found it!

As those of you who have joined us before know, we have a lot of fun at our workshops, they are information and resource packed, and we see some beautiful places. Day 1, Aug. 5, is at Willowbrook Land Lab, 8811 Career Drive, Piqua, Ohio, and day 2, Aug. 6 is at the Tipp City Government Center, 260 S. Garber Drive, Tipp City, Ohio.

This year, we’re focusing on pollinators. This is a hot topic due to the continued issues with “colony collapse disorder” in our honeybee hives, and the epic drop in Monarch butterflies over the last few years. Monarchs had a better year last year, but their population is still at a historic low. What are the issues? What can be done? Come and see! We’ll take you on a mental journey with our unique, important and lovely pollinators as we look at the challenges and obstacles they face.

We will work through activities and resources for grades K – 12 that align with the Ohio Academic Standards, featuring curriculum from Food, Land and People, Pheasants Forever, Aldo Leopold, Project WILD and more!

You can join us for one day for $50, or both days for $65 (both are needed if you’d like the graduate credit.) This workshop is open to all who teach, whether you’re in a traditional, non-traditional or home school classroom.

For a registration form, go to www.shelbyswcd.org under “events” or contact Lynda Adams, Education Coordinator for the Shelby Soil & Water Conservation District at [email protected]. Registration closes on July 24.
