Edison gets art donation

PIQUA — Nancy Shuler, an alumna of Edison Community College with a fine arts degree, has donated three pieces of her artwork to the college.

Shuler has had solo exhibitions in the region and has sold her artwork nationally. She was accepted to La Macina di Cresci International Artist Fellowship in Tuscany, Italy, by a juried panel and will begin this month.

When asked what inspired her donation, Shuler said, “Edison Community College is a place of warmth, energy and empowerment that has allowed me to grow professionally and personally. I hope the art will inspire students as I have been inspired.”

Shuler will speak of her Italy residency at the Mayflower Arts Center in Troy in August.

“There are few artists I’ve worked with who understand the true power of creation as Nancy Shuler. Her deep love of color, form, space and texture evokes great emotion in all who study her work. Ms. Shuler’s work expresses pure passion through paint and canvas,” said Lisa A. Bauer, owner and director of the Mayflower Arts Center.

Shuler’s artwork is on display in the East Hall, Emerson Center and West Hall of Edison’s Piqua campus. For information about her artwork, visit www.nancyshuler.com.
