PIQUA — Piqua manufacturer P&R Specialty, Inc. is preparing for a 30,125-square-foot expansion project. According to their county building permit, the project is a $1.1 million endeavor to build a manufacturing addition.

P&R Specialty, Inc. manufactures “fiberboard spools, plastic spools, and plywood reels for the wire and cable industries,” according to their website. Accompanying a line of standard-sized spools and reels, P&R Specialty, Inc. also offers “in-house design and mold manufacturing capabilities for custom spool and reel needs,” as stated on their website.

The current manufacturing addition project is for “injection molding operations,” according to the building permit. According to P&R Specialty’s website, they expanded their plastic injection molding back in September 2014 as well. Their website stated that they replaced “older injection molding presses with new equipment.”

In addition to that, they also added four new presses in 2014, broadening the scope of their production. P&R Specialty, Inc. currently has over two dozen presses with molding capabilities between 100 to 700 tons.

“Reinvesting in the company for this improved and expanded capacity is our long-term commitment to both our customers and the P&R team,” their website stated.

P&R Specialty, Inc. was founded in 1982. They currently have 100,000 square feet worth of manufacturing facilities.

Ferguson Construction Company of Sidney is reportedly the contractor for this project.

P&R Specialty, Inc. is located at 1835 W. High St. in Piqua. The Piqua Daily Call is currently waiting on further comments from P&R Specialty, Inc.
