SIDNEY — The Shelby County Animal Rescue Foundation (SCARF) will stage its third annual Operation Supplies, Aug. 15, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Shelby County Animal Shelter.

Operation Supplies allows area residents to donate pet supplies for use by the shelter. This year, there is a particular need for gift cards from Jack’s Pets, Walmart, Tractor Supply, Amazon or Kroger; Greenies capsule-size pill pockets; Capstar Flea Treatment for small animals, Sterilite storage containers, collars of all sizes and braided nylon leashes. During Operation Supplies, children can visit with Scarfie, the SCARF mascot. Free doughnuts will be available and everyone who donates will receive a gift.

SCARF has announced that registrations are now open for its annual, low cost, pet vaccine and microchip clinic scheduled for Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Shelby County Animal Shelter, 1100 Clem Road.

The deadline to register and pay for a pet’s vaccines and microchips is Sept. 5. Registrations must be submitted in person at the animal shelter. Forms are available there and online at www.helpshelbycountyanimals.com. Checks should be written payable to SCARF.

Dr. Tim Woodward, of Tri-County Veterinary Service, will administer the vaccinations. Animal shelter staff will have microchips available.

Dogs taken to the clinic must be on leashes. Cats must be in carriers.
