Two tourney wins for Knouff

PIQUA — Fort Loramie junior standout Emily Knouff got her season off to a great start recently when she took medalist honors at the annual Covington Lady Bucc girls golf invitational at Echo Hills.

Knouff outdueled Tipp City’s Tori Merrick by one stroke, shooting a 79. She was tied for third place after the first nine holes, and three strokes off the lead with a 41. But she came back in with a 38, four strokes better than Merrick, who shot a 42.

Tipp City still managed to win the team title with a 356, one stroke better than Troy. Versailles was fifth with 388, Russia seventh with a 417, Fort Loramie eighth with a 425 and New Bremen 11th with a 495.

Versailles had two in the top 10, led by Madie Covault with an 88, good enough for a fifth-place tie. Teammate Lauren Heitkamp shot a 91 for 10th.

Celina Invitational

CELINA —Fort Loramie’s Emily Knouff made it two medalist rounds in her first two tournaments this season, following up her win in the Lady Bucc Invitational with a round of 69 to finish first in the Celina Invitational Friday at The Fox’s Den.

Knouff scorched the course with a 35 on the first nine, and shaved a stroke off that on the back nine to put on a show and win the tournament by 13 strokes.

The Versailles girls took third place with a 380, and Fort Loramie was sixth with a 401.

Also for the Lady Redskins, Megan Koppin and Amy Eilerman both had a 109, and Kayla Rosengarten 114.

The Lady Tigers shot a 380 to finish behind Van Buren (368) and Findlay (369). Maddie Covault led Versailles with an 83, Lauren Durham shot a 91, Lauren Heitkamp 98 and Jorja Pothast 108.

Marion Local shot a 456 and was led by Molly Kindle with a 103. New Bremen shot a 521 and was paced by Amy Schmitmeyer with a 111.

JC boys win

BELLEFONTAINE — Jackson Center won a tri-match over Riverside and Calvary Christian in boys golf action recently.

The Tigers had 178, Riverside 182 and Calvary 246.

Riverside’s Landon Kelsey was medalist with a 42.

For Jackson, Drew Sosby and Brady Wildermuth both shot 44 and Bryce Sosby and Trent Platfoot both added 45s.

For Riverside, Trey Lane had a 45.
