BOTKINS – Michael Buchanan, 24, of Botkins, will be sentenced in the Shelby County Common Pleas Court on Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. on one felony count of gross sexual imposition.

The charge comes from an incident in 2006 where he had sexual contact with a female under the age of 13.

Buchanan pleaded guilty on July 31 to the third degree felony charge, allowing him to avoid a jury trial and go straight to sentencing.

Conditions for the guilty plea stipulated a recommendation for community control and an agreement not to bring additional charges related to the incident against him. The charge carries a maximum prison sentence of 5 years and a $10,000 fine.

Buchanan was released on his own recognizance until time of sentencing.
