DENVER, Colo. — Meghan Mollie Shuffelton and Brian Arthur Magee, both of Denver, Colorado, were united in marriage July 25, 2015, at 3 p.m. in the Holy Name Catholic Church in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
The bride is the daughter of Julie and David Shuffelton, of Fort Loramie. Her grandparents are Ruth Ann Moloney, of Sidney, and the late William Moloney, and the late Dorothy and Frank Shuffelton.
The bridegroom is the son of Sherry and Art Magee, of Gig Harbor, Washington. His grandparents are Roma Reuther, of Richmond, Virginia, and the late William Reuther, and Angeline Magee, of Eugene, Oregon, and the late Arthur J. Magee Jr.
The Rev. Ernest Bayer performed the ceremony. Mary Dardanis was the organist, Mark Rasmussen was the trumpeter and Wendy Dillon was the vocalist. The bride and bridegroom served as the eucharistic ministers of the wedding Mass. Lectors were Karen Fortman, godmother of the bride, and Nick Mancini. Presenters of the gifts were Mark Moloney, godfather of the bride, and Ann Clark.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a backless, lace and tulle, fit-and-flare gown from the Stella York collection. It featured an illusion lace, bateau neckline, a fitted lace bodice and a flowy tulle skirt and court train. The back featured sparkling crystal buttons. Her headpiece had been designed in 1978 by her grandmother for her mother’s wedding. Her mother redesigned the veil for the bride. It was a cathedral-length veil trimmed in a double row of pearls with appliques of Alencon lace secured to a Swarovski crystal-trimmed headband.
The bride carried a bouquet of champagne- and peach-colored roses, dusty miller, silver-seeded eucalyptus and coral-colored flowers with stems wrapped in satin. The bouquet incorporated a rosary that had belonged to the bride’s paternal grandmother.
Julie Marchal, of Cleveland, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sarah Shuffelton, sister-in-law of the bride, and Karla Geise Young, both of Columbus, Kristin Schafer Miller, of Fort Loramie, Stacey Powers, of San Diego, California, and Lauren Teggart and Stephanie Joy, both of Denver, Colorado.
Each attendant wore a coral-colored, knee-length dress of her own choosing. The attendants carried bouquets of assorted flowers in peach, silver and raspberry colors.
Patrick Magee, of Seattle, Washington, served as his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were David “Rusty” Shuffelton, of Washington, D.C., and Dan Shuffelton, of Columbus, brothers of the bride, Brandon Ringler, of Miami, Florida, Greg Ashe, of Littleton, Colorado, and Greg Kaiser and Alex Gerela, both of Denver, Colorado.
Ushers were James Fisher, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Matthew Anderson, of Denver, Colorado.
The mother of the bride wore a knee-length, navy blue, Tadashi Shoji sheath dress embellished with metallic lace. The mother of the bridegroom wore a knee-length, tiered dress in navy blue. They carried bouquets of yellow and peach-, silver- and raspberry-colored flowers.
A reception, with the band, Hit List, at the Ranch at Steamboat followed the ceremony. The couple plan to honeymoon by touring the West Coast in 2016. They reside in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The bride graduated from Fort Loramie High School in 2003, from Miami University in Oxford with a Bachelor of Science in political science and journalism in 2007, and from the University of Northern Colorado with a Master of Education in 2015. She is employed by Aboite Elementary School in Fort Wayne as a teacher.
The bridegroom is a 2001 graduate of Forest Hills Central High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 2006 and is employed by Zimmer Biomet in global marketing.
The couple met on a blind date arranged in November 2012 by a mutual friend, Greg Kaiser, originally from Minster.
