Loramie girls hand Russia key loss

RUSSIA — Fort Loramie scored three times in the top of the first and went on to hand the Russia Lady Raiders a key setback in County softball action Thursday at Russia, 5-1.

The loss left Russia 5-2 in the league and dropped them two games behind league-leading Houston. Overall, the Lady Raiders are 8-6 and Fort Loramie 9-1.

Megan Koppin held the Lady Raiders to just four hits in the game.

Holly Frey singled and doubled, and Julie May doubled for the Lady Redskins. Claudia Counts had a double for Russia.

Sidney 20, Anna 4

SIDNEY — Sidney has struggled on offense this week, but that wasn’t the case Thursday night.

The Lady Jackets rapped out 19 hits and went on to run-rule the Anna Lady Rockets 20-4 in non-league action at Aschenbach Field.

Sidney is 9-9 on the year and Anna 6-8.

Grace Shell, the winning pitcher, was 2 for 5 with a two-run homer, and Hannah Westerbeck also had a two-run homer.

Maddy White singled and doubled, Hayden Spurgeon tripled, and Summer Inman had two hits. Spurgeon and Inman also drove in two runs.

For Anna, Alexis Phillips singled and doubled, and Riley Osborne had two hits.

Riverside 19, Lehman 1

SIDNEY — Lehman was without four starters and that was not a good thing going up against a Riverside team that has lost just once this season. The result was a 19-1 run-rule verdict at Lehman.

The Lady Cavs, who managed only one hit off Marissa Davis, drop to 7-7 on the year. Riverside goes to 16-1.

For the Lady Pirates, Lauren Anderson had two singles and a double, Kristin Davidson, Abby Proffitt, Payton Manahan and Taylor Stevens all had two singles, and Aubrie Stillings had a double.

Parkway 18, Minster 17

MINSTER — Parkway scored six times in the first and the Minster Lady Wildcats coldn’t recover in dropping an 18-7 verdict in Midwest Athletic Conference recently.

Minster is now 10-7 overall and Parkway 9-2.

Taylor Homan had a homer and a single and drove in three for Minster. Karly Richard had two singles, and Danielle Barhorst and Jenna Nixon both doubled.
